On the way you will have the opportunity to stopover to observe the burial towers of Macro, an outpost of the Chachapoyas culture built into cliffs overlooking the Utcubamba River. The reserve  MANU NATIONAL PARK covers the entire watershed of the Manu River, running across an extraordinary range of altitudes, running from 4,300 m. above sea level in the high Andean plain down to 200 meters in the Amazon Basin. The area is home to dozens of tribes: Mahuaca, Huachipaire, Machiguenga, Piro, Yora, and Yaminahua- as well as others that have yet to make contact with the outside world. The park is also a haven for more than 20,000 plant varieties, 1,200 butterfly species, 1,000 bird species, 200 species of mammals and an unknown quantity of reptiles, amphibians and insects. There are wide varieties of tropical habitats with endemic species of plants and animals.

Cusco-Manu Cloud Forest charter flight: Although the ground journey across the Andes from Cusco is very interesting for most people, now you have the option to fly from Cusco to the Manu Cloud Forests in about 30 min. Then you are transferred to the Manu Cloud Forest Lodge or tented camp by van in 1h 30min.

MANU LODGE Is the only lodge offering all inclusive services within the Manu Park itself. The Manu Lodge is constructed entirely of fine mahogany cut from logs left on the beaches of the Manu by the annual January-March floods. Since there are no roads near or inside the protected Manu lowlands, the river is the only access. Only authorized tour and research boats are allowed to the interior of the Reserve.

MANU CLOUD FOREST LODGE. The new Manu Cloud Forest Lodge site is idyllically located between cloud forest-covered slopes and adjacent to a narrow 400-foot-high waterfall. This small 16-20 bed lodge can be reached in six to seven hours from Cusco, or by flying 20-30 minutes from Cusco to a small airstrip, and then by ground transport in two hours. Some of the amenities of the lodge include private bathrooms with hot water, private verandas overlooking the pristine Union creek, and a sauna to relax after the daily activities.
